Acacius is an OC I developed for Pokémon Sword and Shield; a former Galar gym leader who specializes in grass-types. He has not yet appeared in other worlds, but I have plans to adapt him to an original storyworld in the future.
Acacius is a short and sturdy man who tries to live a carefree life by fleeing any attempt to hold him accountable for his actions. While he tries to do no harm, he struggles with the weight of responsibility, and, eventually, he'll have to stop running and come to terms with the impact he has on others–though he'll put that day off as long as he can.
Pokémon
Acacius was a gym leader around the same time Peony, Chairman Rose's brother, was champion. After he was caught using gym funding for personal use, he stepped down, gave the majority of his pokémon to family, and went to live in the woods shortly before Rose became the pokémon league's chairman. The two would not meet for a long time.
In my fanfic, Onkalo Heart, Acacius runs into Rose while the former chairman is on the run, having fled the legal consequences of awakening Eternatus after the legendary pokémon attacked him. Acacius, realizing that Rose is well and truly on his own, agrees to help him stay hidden, so Rose can hopefully learn more about the Wishing Star that replaced his heart, all while a rogue scientist tries to track down Rose for unethical experimentation.
While Acacius and Rose become closer, Acacius has to deal with the consequences of merely associating with Rose and the responsibility he took on when he promised to help him. It doesn't have to be forever, Acacius tells himself. He can back out at any time… right?
When he was a gym leader, Acacius' main five pokémon team consisted of Ferrothorn, Flapple, Roserade, Shiftry, and Trevenant, plus a handful of other grass types he switched between. After he stepped down, he has only Flapple and Trevenant, along with a budew he rescued, though Budew doesn't battle.
